Wes Craven will SCREAM for more

Covering the Wes Craven tribute by the American CInematheque at the Aero theatre in Santa Monica, California on Saturday and Sunday, February 20 and 21, Susan King in the LA TIMES blog reports that, having wrapped up MY SOUL TO TAKE (about a serial killer who returns to his home town to kill seven children who share his birthday), Craven will start work on SCREAM IV in May. Written by Kevin Williamson, the sequel will reunite Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox, along with new characters.
There has been talk of a SCREAM sequel for awhile but this is the first confirmation of Craven’s involvement. Screenwriter Williamson has said that the story will mix Manga, torture porn, asian ghost movies, and PG-13 films. Doesn’t this sound about one step removed from the SCARY MOVIE, EPIC MOVIE, SUPERHERO MOVIE spoos that have been stinking up theatres for the last few years?
