Christopher Nolan to direct Batman 3 and supervise Superman's return

At Deadline Hollywood, Nikki Finke and Mike Fleming report that Christopher Nolan will mentor a new Superman movie to the screen, as well as direct a third BATMAN film. Nolan’s involvement with SUPERMAN will be less hands-on, probably as exec producer. The new film will not be a direct follow-up to SUPERMAN RETURNS; instead, it will be another reboot. Unnamed sources suggest that Warner Brothers knows what they do not want to do, based on what they learned from SUPERMAN RETURNS; however, they are less sure about what they do want to do. It is unclear whether Nolan’s involvement signals that Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh, who directed and starred in SUPERMAN RETURNS, will not be involved in the new film.
