Even More X-Men Casting

rose_byrneDeadline.com reports that Rose Byrne (28 DAYS LATER) and Oliver Platt (2012) have joined the cast of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.
Byrne (pictured) will play Moira MacTaggert, reportedly Charles Xavier’s (James McAvoy) love interest in the film.
Oliver Platt’s role is said to be a new, non-mutant character, referred to as The Man in Black.
Jason Flemyng (CLASH OF THE TITANS) will portray the teleporting mutant Azazel, the future father of the X-Man Nightcrawler, as reported earlier today.
X-MEN:FIRST CLASS is a 20th Century Fox film, directed by Matthew Vaughn (KICK-ASS). Production begins this September in England.

Jason Flemyng To Take On Azazel In X-MEN: FIRST CLASS

1zgz61iAccording to Comingsoon.net, character actor Jason Flemyng – known for his many character parts in LAYER CAKE, THE LEAGUE OF EXTRAORDINARY GENTLEMEN, and most recently a bit part in KICK-ASS – has announced that he will be playing the character of Azazel, father of Nightcrawler, in the upcoming X-MEN: FIRST CLASS. For those unfamiliar with the character:

The character first appeared in “Uncanny X-Men” #428 in a storyline called “The Draco” where we finally learned that Kurt Wagner a.k.a Nightcrawler was the son of the lead of an ancient race of mutants, from biblical times no less, who looked like demons and who could teleport by opening portals into other dimensions. In the comics, Azazel had been banished to the “Brimstone dimension” by angels, but left that dimension to father children, one of them being Nightcrawler.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS is set to be released June 3rd, 2011

Edi Gathegi for Darwin in "X-Men"?

edigathegidarwin
TWILIGHT fans will remember actor Edi Gathegi’s portrayal of vampire Laurent, but now he’ll be slipping into an entirely new role. Deadline New York says Gathegi will join Matthew Vaughan’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS as the mutant Darwin.
For those not familiar with the character, Darwin has the ability to adapt to any environment, called “reactive evolution” (thus his name). Some question whether the X-Men franchise needs more mutants packed into one film, while others will invariably love the idea. What say you?

Kevin Bacon for X-MEN: First Class?

kevin_bacon_hollowmanDeadline.com says that the word is Kevin Bacon (THE HOLLOW MAN) is in talks to play the villain in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.
It’s unknown who the villain will be in the Marvel Comics-based film, as Professor Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) and future Magento Eric Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) are said to to begin the film as friends.
Perhaps this film’s big bad will provide the threat to mutants that serves as the wedge that alienates the two into separate camps.
Alice Eve, Nicholas Hoult, Caleb Landry Jones, and Lucas Till have been announced in recent days for roles in the Matthew Vaugn film, which begins shooting soon in England.

HOULT_CLASHSuperherohype says it has confirmed that Nicholas Hoult (pictured, CLASH OF THE TITANS) has been cast as Hank McCoy (the Beast) and Caleb Landry Jones (THE LAST EXORCISM) will play Sean Cassidy (Banshee) in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.
Entertainment Weekly says that Lucas Till (THE SPY NEXT DOOR) has also been cast in the film, possibly as Alexander Summers, brother of Scott Summers (Cyclops). lucas_Till
In the comics, Alex would resent his brother’s leadership and by the book attitude, eventually rebelling as the pisionic-powered Havok.
The article warns this might be disinformation from 20th Century Fox, in an attempt not to reveal all the roles too early.
Hank_McCoy_XMEN_W At first glance, Nicholas Hoult looks a little slight to play Hank McCoy, depicted in the early comics as a brainy, brawny, broad-faced and usually barefoot and cheerful character. (A nice change from the generally angst-filled teens at Professor Xaviers School for Gifted Students.)
It remains to been seen what path the Matthew Vaugn-directed film version will follow, and if McCoy will assume his later hirsute beastly form

Banshee Found For X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

calebAccording to El Mayimbe at Latinoreview.com, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS may have just added actor Caleb Landry Jones to the cast to play the sonic-screaming Banshee. Mr. Jones is a virtual unknown to audiences: though he has been on the hit TV series FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, most may recognize him from his small appearance in NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN as…well…that kid on the bike. Fan boys may start an uproar, but keep this in mind…Hugh Jackman was an unknown prior to the 1st X-MEN. Just wait to see how this one plays out!

Alice Eve for 'X-Men: First Class'?

Alice_EVE-leagueAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, Alice Eve (BIG NOTHING) is in talks with 20th Century Fox to play Emma Frost in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS.
In the comics, Emma Frost began as a villainess called The White Queen.  Her powers include telepathy, mind control, and psychic assaults. Later, she was given the ability to make herself into a kind of living diamond, nearly invulnerable and with enhanced strength, though without her mutant mental abilities in that form.
Emma Frost is also known for wearing extremely abbreviated and sexually provocative oemma_frost_WhiteQueenutfits as The White Queen — even by comic book standards. Eventually, she was rehabilitated and became a teacher at Xavier’s School for Gifted Students, and a member of the X-Men.
In the apparently not directly connected X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (2009), Tahyna Tozzi played a younger version of Emma Frost.
