With no new nationwide release in the genres of horror, fantasy, and/or science fiction, this week’s episode of the Cinefantastique Spotlight Podcast sets its sights on two films in limited engagements: STOKER and UPSIDE DOWN. The former is a thriller and alleged horror film (its title taken from Bram Stoker, author of DRACULA, although the film contains no vampires). The latter is a fantasy love story disguised as a science fiction film, about a boy and a girl from opposite worlds – in this case, opposite gravity, who learn to bridge the gap that divides them. Tune in as Lawrence French and Steve Biodrowski sift through gorgeous cinematography and stunning special effects, searching for signs of a good script.
