Lara Croft Origin Film?

tomb_raider_underworldAccording to The Hollywood Reporter, the new owners of the TOMB RAIDER video game film rights may be planning to do an origin film of the Lara Croft character.
The two TOMB RAIDER feature films starred Angelina Jolie as the mature version of the female Indiana Jones-type archeologist-adventurer.
However, new rights holder GK Films, headed by Graham King (THE TOURIST), apparently wants to “create daring new adventures for the young and dynamic Lara Croft.”
Original game delveloper Eidos, now part of the Square Enix group, also seems intents on making a new game that explores Corft’s origins, via its active game company Crystal Dynamics.

No script ot writer is in place as of yet.

Capt. America & Thor Super Bowl spots

Until versions that fit our coding, and without added comercials are available, here’s the CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER and THOR Super Bowl spots, via Yahoo Movies.
The first real look at CAPTAIN AMERICA is pretty impressive, with seamless appearing FX putting Chris Evan’s head on a shorter, frail-looking body.

The THOR footage is fun, too— giving us the “Whosoever holds this hammer, if he be worthy, shall possess the power of Thor”  voice-over as Chris Hemsworth locates Mjolnar, and a brief shot of Thor in his winged battle helmet.
Videos may play with or without commericals.

Nick Fury In 'Capt. America', 'Thor' -Video

On Jimmy Fallon Live last night (Wed, Feb. 2) Samuel L. Jackson confirmed that he will be in both CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER  and THOR.
The appearances will be be one-day cameo shoots wherein he invites the characters to join the Avengers.
He’s also going to be screen testing with five women tomorrow to play his ‘side-kick’ in THE AVENGERS, in which he’ll have a more substantial role.
No word on who this female character might be, speculation on the web and other media has suggested everyone from Janet Van Dyne (The Wasp) to Sharon Carter, agent of SHIELD, and a love interest of Steve Rogers’ Captain America.

Star Trek Scribes 'Break Story' for Sequel

star-trek_poster_BlueThe L.A. Times reports that the STAR TREK reboot writers, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, have ‘broken’ the story for the sequel, meaning that they do have the essential plot set for the next film
While not revealing any details, the duo did provide some insight into their process. Alex Kurtzman said (in part):

“I think one of the weird challenges that we’re facing on this one is that in many ways, with the first movie, I don’t think people knew what to expect, so when we were in the writing process, Bob and I really spent our time going to things that we loved about TREK and it was a very unfiltered process. It felt intimate and small….  Now, that first movie has come up and did well and everyone wants to know what happens next…. We need to find our way back to the same kind of vibe that we had when we wrote the first one: What do we want to see here? What moved us about TREK? Where can we go from where we left off?”

Roberto Orci noted that this film is not an origin story, and added the following:

“We’re looking at a lot of the old episodes for inspiration, still. Whereas the last movie was all about breaking free from STAR TREK and its canon, now that we can do whatever we want, we still want it to feel like good ol’ STAR TREK, even though it’s a new story.”
