City of the Dead (a.k.a. Horror Hotel, 1960)
HORROR HOTEL, known as CITY OF THE DEAD in England

Bigstar.tv’s horror category contains several familiar public domain titles (such as the Roger Corman films THE WASP WOMAN and THE TERROR, the latter with Jack Nicholson) and some MST3K-grade camp (THE BRAIN THAT WOULDN’T DIE, THE GIANT GILA MONSTER, EEGAH). Fortunately, fans will be pleased to find some genuinely interesting cult and classic films: NOSFERATU (1922), THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME with Lon Chaney (1923), WHITE ZOMBIE with Bela Lugosi (1932), THE HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL with Vincent Price (1958), HORROR HOTEL with Christopher Lee (1960), and CARNIVAL OF SOULS (1962). Gore hounds should be thrilled by the likes of H.G. Lewis’s THE GORE GORE GIRLS (1972), Tobe Hooper’s EATEN ALIVE (1977), the amusing zombie-western THE QUICK AND THE UNDEAD (2006), and TOKYO GORE POLICE (2008).  Classic horror star Boris Karloff pops up in FEAR CHAMBER, a Mexican horror film from 1968 that had additional scenes shot in the U.S. by by cult filmmaker Jack Hill, and Lugosi shows up again in THE DEVIL BAT, an above-average B-movie from the 1940s.
