Shark Night 3D gets a Director

047009-shark-attack-warnings-ignoredNope, this isn’t the long-mooted JAWS remake but a new unrelated shark horror film shot in 3D. According to Deadline New York Incentive Filmed Entertainment is putting $28 million behind the film which is to be directed by David R. Ellis (THE FINAL DESTINATION, SNAKES ON A PLANE).
Jesse Studenberg and Will Hayes have written the script but no plot details are available thus far but don’t be surprised if promiscuous teenagers go swimming and get ripped to pieces by a man-eating shark. David R. Ellis certainly has the right track record for SHARK NIGHT 3D, having helmed b-movie flavoured and big budgeted 3D horror films twice already.
Interestingly the sharks in question won’t be CGI, but animatronic creations by Walt Conti, the people behind the sharks in Deep Blue Sea, the giant snake in Anaconda and the whales in Free Willy. Given that, and the people involved, SHARK NIGHT 3D sounds like it could be a lot of fun. SHARK NIGHT 3D starts shooting this summer in Louisiana.
