Obituary: Bob May, played Lost in Space robot

lost-in-spaceBob May, the actor and stunt man who played the Robot in Irwin Allen’s 1960s’ television series LOST IN SPACE, has died from congestive heart failure, at the age of 69. After the nefarious Dr. Smith, the Robot may be the show’s most enduring character, thanks to its distinctive design and signature cry of “Warning! Warning!”
Playing the Robot was a tough gig that required May to remain in the heavy suit for hours at a time (because it was so difficult to put on and take off). Although May did not provide the voice, May reportedly learned the lines not only of his character but of everyone else, so that would be able to respond to cues on time.
