What’s happening on the web today, vis-a-vis fantasy, horror, and science-fiction? Let’s take a look…
Zombos Closet has a lits of Great Gift Ideas for Your Horror Fan. The suggestions are all books, and some of them sound quite interesting: Uncanny Bodies: The Coming of Sound Film and the Origins of the Horror Genre, Eiji Tsuburaya: Master of Monsters, The Doctor Who Encyclopedia: A Definitive Guide to Time and Space.
A blog at TampaBay.Com howls with mirth over a mis-fired screening of Francis Ford Coppola’s new film YOUTH WITHOUT YOUTH, which contains what is sure to be one of the great camp lines of all time: “One more regression and we’ll reach the proto-language.” (Ranks right up there with VAMPIRES’ infamous “He’ll be unstoppable unless we stop him.”)
Movies Online has an interview with actor Sam Elliot, talking about his role in THE GOLDEN COMPASS.
Swedish web TV4 is preparing to launch a science-fiction chanell that will serve Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.
BlogCritics.Org has a review of the unrated BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: RAZOR DVD
Ultimate News Flash tells us to eagerly anticipate THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES, a low-budget horror film that unspools as if you are watching the home movies of a serial killer committing his crimes. Personally, I think it looks like the home invasion from HENRY: PORTRAIT OF A SERIAL KILLER expanded to fill a home movie, and I think the whole “found footage” gambit (a la BLAIR WITCH) is growing tired, but I have to admit the trailer looks pretty creepy.
